Jekel

CAMERON—Funeral services for Mollie Jekel, 94, of Cameron were held Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Budd officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery near Buckholts.

Ms. Jekel died Saturday, March 9, in a Cameron nursing center.

The owner and operator of Jekel Store, she was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Milam County to Joseph and Mary (Paveska) Novotny.

She married Frank Jekel and he preceded her in death in 1980.

Ms. Jekel was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post No. 2010 and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cameron.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Vybiral.

Survivors include, a son, Dwayne Jekel of Cameron; a daughter, Janet Hinson of Cameron; a sister, Mary Costolow of Dallas; three grandchildren, Robert (Roby) Jekel of Cameron, Al Vybiral of Jewett, Shelia Jekel Chavez of Clear Lake; and longtime companion, Joe Vansa of Cameron; also, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
