Retiring Baptist preacher, wife to be honored Sunday

On Sunday, March 24 following the morning worship service at the Gause Baptist Church members will be honoring Pastor and Mrs. Lester Curtis with a luncheon upon their retirement at the end of March from their many years in the ministry. They will be returning to Virginia where they will be near family.

Gause 4-H Club members and Gause ISD art students will be participating in the Milam County Junior Livestock and Home Economics Division Show in Cameron the latter part of the week as will some Gause youth who are Milano FFA students. Best of luck to all of them.

On Friday, Gause ISD seventh and eighth grade students will take a Field trip to Texas State University in San Marcos.

On Monday, March 25 Gause ISD students will have an early out at 12:30 p.m. for all students. The junior high district track meet will be held in Iola that afternoon. March 28 will be another early out day and if no bad weather between now and March 29 they will have the day off as they have a bad weather day that has not been used.

Gause ISD National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 28 in the school library.

As in years past the Annual Gause Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at Gause Baptist Church. Make plans to bring your youngsters and share in this community activity.

Gause 4-H member Katelyn Trowbridge recently participated in the Travis County 4-H March Madness in Manor. She placed third in Precision Air Rifle competition and tied for third in Air Rifle Silhouette. P arents Jennifer and Donnie Trowbridge were there to cheer her on. Congratulations to Katelyn.

On Thursday, Cathy Watson and daughter Lindsey of Houston stopped by and visited with us for a few hours. They had been on a sightseeing day trip around the Brenham area.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
