RHS Class of 1953

The RHS Class of 1953 will hold its 60th-year reunion on Saturday, June 8.

Information is needed on the following classmates: Doris Ann (Backhaus) Seelig, Mary Evelyn (Buetow) Boyd, Jo Anne (Cooper) Roberts, Alice (Garcia) Solis, Waughndel (Key) Stricker, Gertis (Pelzel) Lindamood, Shirley Rielly.

RHS Class of 1963

The RHS Class of 1963 will hold its 50th-year reunion Saturday, June 8 at Apache Pass, 9112 N. FM 908, Rockdale (phone 1-254-627-9519).

“We will gather at 4 p.m. on the patio for conversation and renewal of old acquaintances. Dinner will begin a la carte at 5 p.m. with more visiting and fellowship to follow,” said Jim McDaniel, publicist. “There will be no formal program,” he added.

“Members of other classes are invited to join us at 7 p.m.,” he said.

Rockdale High School Class of ‘63 Reunion is a Facebook group created for the reunion. Changes of address, email address or mailing address after the 2003 Reunion Book should be sent to (Jim McDaniel). Classmates are asked to RSVP if they will or will not attend at the same address.

“We are planning golf and a tour of the new high school on the same day as the dinner if there is interest,” McDaniel said. This web page will be kept current: _ class _ 1963. html. “Classmates are asked to help get the word out via their personal contacts,” McDaniel said.

RHS Class 0f 1983

The RHS Class of 1983 will hold its 30th-year reunion Saturday, June 22 at Apache Pass. Class members and friends are asked to contact Barry Haag at or call 512-863-0585. “Please pass the word,” Haag said.

The reunion will be in conjunction with the Big Blue Band reunion and the reunions of the Classes of 1988 and 1993, also at Apache Pass.

RHS Class of 1993

The RHS Class of 1993 will hold its 20th-year reunion Saturday, June 22 with the following schedule:

• 9:30 a.m.—Tour of Rockdale High School (meet at new entrance on Childress Street).

• 1 until 5 p.m.—Family picnic at Apache Pass, 9112 N. FM 908 (near Worley’s Bridge), volleyball, horseshoe and washer pitching and Bouncy House for the kids. Jason and crew will BBQ for a luncheon to be provided with water, tea and lemonade.

• Reunion fees: $25 per classmate, $15 per guest (children free).

• 7:30 p.m.—80’s dance at Apache Pass Icehouse with ‘80s band, in conjunction with the Big Blue Band reunion and the Classes of 1983 and 1988 reunions. (All food and drink must be purchased from Apache Pass Icehouse). No cover charge.

RHS Big Blue Band

The third Rockdale Big Blue Band reunion will be held Saturday, June 22, at Apache Pass Ice House, according to reunion director and former RHS band director Jim Perry.

“We will officially start at 4 p.m. but if we can find a large enough venue, it would be great to meet earlier for lunch and talk. The Classes of 1983, 1988 and 1993 will hold their reunions at the same place and time as well, so it will be a large gathering,” Perry said. “Bill Grusendorf and Don Thoede (also former band directors) will be there and we want to see everyone, so please put this on your calendar.”

Thorndale Jamboree kicking off 19th year

THORNDALE—Thorndale VFW Post 4009 & Auxiliary will host the monthly Thorndale Country & Gospel Music Jamboree on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the VFW Hall on North FM 486. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the music will start at 7.

“This will be our anniversary show,” said Margie Menzel, publicist. “We have completed 18 years and we’re beginning our 19th year on Monday.”

Also, a special presentation to the Auxiliary is planned in recognition of their 50th anniversary. The Auxiliary was instituted Feb. 6, 1963.

“The kitchen will be serving sausage wraps, chicken salad sandwiches, homemade pies and desserts and drinks,” Menzel said.
