Milano scholarship golf tourney set May 18

MILANO—A fund-raiser golf tournament will be held Saturday, May 18 to help with scholarships for Milano ISD. The event will follow a four-man scramble format, with an 8 a. m. shot g un start and be held at the Rockdale Count ry Club and include top prizes, Supt. Robert Westbrook announced.

Cost is $60 per player or $240 for a four person team and is limited to the first 18 teams. Two mulligans may be purchased per person for $5 each. Single players are welcome and will be paired with a teams.

Prizes will be given out to the top three teams, as well as for longest drive, closest to pin and hole-in-one.

Participants will also be served breakfast tacos and a barbecue lunch. Entry deadline is May 10. Forms are available at www.milanoisd.net or at the high school principal’s office.

Hole sponsorships are also available for the event for $120. A silent auction is also planned.

“One hundred percent of the net proceeds will fund scholarships for graduating Milano students,” Westbrook said.

The Mi lam County Aggie Moms Club will be having a scholarship golf tournament Saturday, March 23, at the Rockdale Country Club.

Special guest R.C. Slocum will be playing throughout the day and will be on hand for lunch.

The 4-man scramble tournament will have two tee times; 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and will include carts and lunch.

Entry fee is $60 per player. There will be contests, silent auction and more.

The tournament is open to all golfers. Milam County Aggie Moms encourage all Aggies to come out and support future Aggies.

Cooper makes TAPPS all-state soccer squad

BRYAN— Connelly Cooper, a junior at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, has been named to the TAPPS all-state soccer team for Division III.

Cooper was named to the second team at defense.

He was also named to the Division III District 3 first team at defense.

Cooper is the son of Chris and Kelly Cooper of Gause. He is the grandson of Dan and Maxine Cooper of Lake Conroe and Wayne and Wanda Lee of Gause.
