PTO to select officers at Tuesday meeting

Officer nomination meeting for the Rockdale PTO group will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at the RJH commons area, president Cheryl Blackstock announced.

Childcare will be provided.

“It is very important that all parents and teachers attend this meeting,” Blackstock said. “ We are here to support all children in RISD.”

Parental Involvement meeting set Tuesday

Each year Rockdale ISD conducts a Parental Involvement Policy Development meeting to allow parents an opportunity to provide input on how the district can support parental involvement.

This year the meeting will be held in collaboration with the Rockdale PTO meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 Rockdale Junior High commons, Pam Kaufmann, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Administration, announced.

Babysitting will be provided and a light snack will be available to all participants.

“Please join us to share your ideas on how Rockdale ISD can support your participation in your child’s academic growth,” Kaufmann said.

RISD iTigers to host self defense classes

Rockdale ISD iTigers programwill sponsor a three week self defense class for adults of the community, RHS ACE coordinator Denice Doss announced.

The class will be held at 7 p.m. April 8, 15, and 22 at the elementary gym.

The class is free to the public but you must sign up for there are limited spaces. Martial arts instructor Cindy Key will be teaching the class.

Project Grad schedule barbecue chicken dinner

Rockdale Project Graduation will hold a barbecue chicken dinner fund-raiser on Sunday, April 21 at Rockdale KC Hall, according to Debbie Brinkley, spokesperson.

Serving will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., dine in or carry out. Desserts will also be available. Tickets are $8 per plate and are on sale now from any Rockdale Project Graduation Senior.
