‘New set of eyes’ may work tourism

Rockdale appears on the brink of bringing in a “new set of eyes” to work on tourism and promotion of the city after a 90-minute public hearing with a Fort Worthbased firm Monday.

Superintendent submits resignation
Trustees set informal goal of June 30 to hire replacement for Dr. Howell Wright
Dr. Howell Wright Jr., Rockdale ISD superintendent for the past four years has submitted his resignation to school trustees, effective June 30.

Milano imposes first-ever city property tax
Council votes in 25-cent rate, eyes city police department
MILANO—For the first time since its incorporation in 1977, the City of Milano will collect a property tax from its residents, apparently to fund the city’s first police department.
In a called meeting of the Milano City Council Friday, a 25-cents per $100 valuation ad valorem tax was unanimously voted into law. Full Story

The final two Community Holy Week luncheon services will be held during the noon hour Thursday and Friday at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, sponsored by the Rockdale Ministerial Alliance.
Holy Week, of course, leads to Easter and community’s annual Sunrise Service is set for 7 a.m. Sunday at the Tiger Field stadium. Full Story
