Community Easter egg hunt set for Saturday

Remember the Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, March 30 at the Gause Baptist Church. Please have eggs at the church or Coats Grocery by 9:30 a.m. There will be a short program for the kids in the church at 10 a.m., followed by the hunt and you are asked to bring refreshments to be served following the hunt. All youngsters of the community are invited to attend.

Sunday morning you are invited to an Easter Sunrise Service on the lawn of the Gause Baptist Church beginning at 7 a.m. If by chance it is raining the service will be held in the sanctuary. Breakfast will be served in the church’s Family Life Center following the sunrise service. Make plans and attend. The church invites all to remain after breakfast for Sunday School at 10 a.m. and the worship service at 11 am.

Gause Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual barbecue sale on Saturday, April 13 at the fire station. It will run from 10 a.m. until they are sold out. They will have brisket, chicken and sausage plates for $10 each. Plates will include choice of meat, potato salad, beans, onions, pickles and tea. Please come out and support your local fire d epartment. T hey w ill a lso be selling cakes.

Marilyn Anderson from San Juan, Texas spent several days here last week visiting with Mary Nell and Travis Neely. She came especially at this time to see the Neely’s new granddaughter, Tessa Von Neely, born Feb. 11. Parents are Merideth and Travis Neely who live here in Gause. Maternal grandparents are Dave and Judy Keeling of Hearne and paternal great grandfather is J.T. Todd of Gause.

Next week, April 2-3, Gause ISD students will take the STAAR tests. On April 2, the GJH 6th grade class will take a trip to Texas A&M University.

Gause Community Improvement Program will meet at 6 p. m. Monday, April 1 at the Gause Community Center.

Gause 4-H Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 in the Gause ISD cafeteria.

A number from here were in Cameron last week to take part in the Milam County Junior Livestock Show. We had a good number of youth from Gause to participate in the show. Hope to have that list and how they placed next week.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
