Controversial ordinance is action item for city council here Monday
A proposed nuisance ordinance, which represents new territory for Rockdale municipal government, will get a public airing during a 5:30 p.m. city council session Monday at City Hall.

MDD executive quits, interim leader named
Action taken Tuesday after executive session
Tom Manskey, the only executive director the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) has ever had, resigned Tuesday in order to accept a position at an Austin-area firm.
MDD directors, meeting at City Hall, emerged from a twohour plus executive session to accept his resignation and elevate administrative assistant Kara Clore to replace him on an interim basis. Full Story
Milam skeletal remains ID’d as 26-year-old male
Cause of death not determined; body returned to family in Mexico for burial
A two-year-old mystery was solved recently when a partial skeleton found north of Cameron on Jan. 13, 2011, was positively identified as Miguel Regalado-Jaramillo, a 26-year-old immigrant from Mexico who resided on FM 979 in Milam County.
The Milam County Sheriff’s Department was contacted in 2011 by a man who saw a human skull while picking up trash. Full Story

Chamber banquet Thursday
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce will host its annual awards banquet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the juniorhigh commons.
Jim Reed, executive director of the Central Texas Council of Governments will be the guest speaker.
