Behind 20 steals, Tigers vanquish Vanguard Monday
Caldwell’s Tanner Luna had one more strikeout than Rockdale’s Ethan Brinkley.
And more importantly, Luna was also up by one over Brinkley in the run support department.
In a good, old fashioned pitching duel, the Hornets were able to eek out a 1-0 victory over the Tigers Thursday night at Tiger Ballpark. Full Story
Lady Tigers suffer first district setback
With a five-game winning streak in tow and sitting atop the district standings unbeaten, the Rockdale Lady Tigers were due a sagging spell.
Caldwell took advantage of five Lady Tiger errors and an absence of pop at the plate to hand them their first league loss, 6-1, Thursday night at the Softball Complex. Full Story

Tiger athletes begin push to reach state meets
at Pecan Lakes Golf Course in Navasota and then continue on Monday, April 8 with the second round.
The Tigers are the three-time defending district champions and have captured the district title in four of the past five years.
Three players return off that team, Grant Galbreath, Tucker Tovar and Tyler Pruett. Full Story
Lady Eagles lose chance to stand alone atop league
Milano alone in second place in district play
MIL A NO—Milano lost the chance to stand alone atop the District 27A standings, losing to Somerville 13-5 at home.
The Lady Yeguas are 4-0 after the first round of league play, with the Lady Eagles (10-8 overall) right behind at 3-1.
Burton, who Milano will travel to on Friday, is currently sitting in that third place spot at 2-2. Full Story
Remmert knocks in seven in Lady Dogs’ 15-0 rout
THORNDALE—The Lady Dogs took care of busy speedily on Thursday as they defeated visiting Georgetown Gateway 15-0 in just four innings.
Charla Leopold tossed the win for Thorndale (10-7, 4-1), giving up just three hits on the evening.
Heather Remmert had a stellar game at the plate, going threefor three with two triples and knocking in seven of the Lady Dogs’ runs. Full Story
Thorndale quartet earns Academic All-State nods
Thorndale Lady Dog basketball players Olivia Atkins, Heather Butterworth, Lizzie Marr and Shelby Pausewang have been named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State Academic team. Full Story

Rotary scholarship golf tourney set for April 6
Rockdale Rotary Club’s 21st annual Mike McFalls Memorial Scholarship Scramble golf tou r nament will be held Saturday, April 6 at Rockdale Country Club.
Lee Jenkins, organizer, said entry fee is $70 and includes green fee and two mulligans. A maximum 72 players will be entered. Full Story
Milano scholarship golf tourney tees off May 18
MILANO—A fund-raiser golf tournament will be held Saturday, May 18 to help with scholarships for Milano ISD.
The event will follow a four- man scramble format, with an 8 a. m. shot gun start and be held at the Rockdale Country Club and include top prizes, Supt. Robert Westbrook announced. Full Story

MILANO—Milano Athletic Booster Club is holding the fourth annual Alumni Softball Tournament on Saturday, April 6. A co-ed softball tournament to raise funds for the Germaine Dawson Scholarship Fund has been set for Saturday, April 13 at the girls softball complex.

Milano Lodge #605 AF&AM will host its 13th annual four-man scramble tourney on Saturday, April 20 at the Cameron Country Club with tee time set for 9 a.m.
