County okays pipeline

CAMERON—Milam County commissioners, meeting Monday in regular session in the courthouse, approved an oil pipeline crossing the northeast corner of the county.

The BridgeTex Pipeline will extend from the Permian Basin (Midland-Odessa area) to Houston and is expected to cross four county road in Milam.

The agreement was approved on the conditions that the company purchase warranty bonds to cover possible damage to road crossings and pay for correct permits required.

ABATEMENT—Commissioners approved a tax abatement for Charlotte Pipe & Foundry which recently announced a major expansion project to its Cameron facility.

The Milam County Industrial Corporation recommended the abatement be improved after determining Charlotte Pipe met the criterion for an 80-percent abate over four years.

Commissioner Chuck “Tank” Balch was recognized for completion of his educational training.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
