Surplus food giveaway Thursday at KC Hall
The monthly free surplus food giveaway by the Capital Area Food Bank of Austin is set for 9 a.m. Thursday at the KC Hall, according to Denise Sifuentes, spokesperson.
There are no eligibility requirements to receive the free food.

Milano council hires firm for delinquent taxes
MILANO—Milano city council members heard a presentation and voted to contract with McCreary, Veselka, Bragg and Allen law firm to collect the delinquent city taxes during a regular meeting on Monday at the Milano Civic Center.
The council voted in the city’s first ever ad valorem tax rate of 25-cents March 22 during a special called meeting. Full Story

Emancipet, a low-cost dog and cat spay and neuter service, will return to Rockdale May 2 at S&S Auto.

May 30 deadline for RISD pupil transfers
Parents of students transferring into the Rockdale ISD from other districts are reminded that May 30 is the deadline to apply for student transfers in the 2013- 14 term, according to Dr. Howell Wright, superintendent.

Blood drive April 29th set for Milano school
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 12-noon to 5 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Milano High School.
Jan Hale, Red Cross spokesperson, said the event is part of National Volunteer Week, April 21-27.
