Residents and businesses are reminded that they do not have to wait until one of the Stash Your Trash Days to discard many items.

Appliances such as stoves, washing machines and refrigerators may be set at the curb (refrigerators must have the refrigerant removed by a certified individual or company).

Also, limbs that are bundled (cut to no more than 48 inches in length and weighing no more than thirty pounds), water heaters, chairs, couches, old lawn furniture and similar household items can be placed at the curb for Rockdale’s normal weekly garbage pickup.

Bundles and appliances must be placed at the curb no later than 7 am on the regular pickup day.

Bundles (such as tree limbs or newspapers) must be reasonably contained and do not exceed one cubic yard in total volume.

Bulky items (such as furniture) and appliances must not exceed two cubic yards in total volume. No tires or hazardous materials can be placed at the curb for pick up.

Residents and businesses can also call the solid waste collection service, Progressive Waste Systems, at 866-282-3508 (toll free) for special pick up of bulky items which are in excess of two cubic yard but no more than five cubic yards.

Bundles, such as tree limbs or newspapers, in excess of one cubic yard but no more than four cubic yards and weighing more than thirty pounds can also receive a special pickup from Progressive Waste Systems.

There are fees charged to the resident or business for the special pick ups.
