West explosion relief efforts

  Milam County residents are doing their part to help out the town of West after the plant explosion that leveled parts of the small city located Wednesday night.

  Rockdale residents can drop off money and gift card doantions at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.

  RHS student council is sponsoring a Blood Drive in support of the victims of the tragedy in West from 9 a.m. to 2. p.m. (or until last donor is taken care of) today (Friday, April 19) in the Old Gym.

  Until 2 p.m. Friday, only donations of bottled water, toiletries, blankets, baby items, stuffed animals, pillows, coloring books/colors and such can be dropped off the Milam County Extension Office, 100 E. 1st St. in Cameron.  Items should be dropped off by 2 p.m. Friday for delivery to the McLennan County Extension Office, which will then distribute to the citizens of West

  Milano ISD’s National Honor Society, NJHS and Student Council are collecting the following items at the high school until April 25: bottled water, toiletries, clothes, blankets, diapers, formula, bottles, toys, adult diapers, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, gauze, medical supplies, cots, air mattresses, pillows, dog food, cat food, pet crates/carriers.

  MISD NHS is also sponsoring a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, April 29 at the school.   Call 512-455-9333 to make an appointment.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
