For the second time in six months, Rockdale’s Fair Park was the site of a multi-day training session for the Texas Animal Health Commission’s new horseback emergency response training team. Dr. Dee Ellis of Rockdale, TAHC executive director and state veterinarian, said the development of a mounted response team is “a testimony to the dedication of TAHC personnel.” The team is composed of TAHC animal inspectors whose primary role after a disaster will be to assist with locating, rounding up, identifying and moving livestock. The team will also perform any other appropriate duties as requested by local and state responders.
