‘Team Tammy’ spaghetti lunch set Sunday at noon

Team Tammy has set a spaghetti lunch on Sunday, April 21 to raise funds for Milam County Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. The lunch, with dine-in or to-go plates available for $7 each, will start at noon until sold out and will be held at Smokin’ Oak BBQ. Desserts will be available for an additional purchase.

This month’s Milano Opry is set for Saturday, April 20 at Milano High School. Doors open at 6 p.m. show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $7, children 10 and under get in free.

Special guests are Ron Brewer, recording artist and evangelist from Summerville, Georgia and Erin Vestal from Bryan. House band members are Michael Herod, Billy Barnett, Ab Woods, Michael Wall, Ricky Blagg, Will Fountain and Lynn Martin.

Concessions will include hamburgers, barbecue sandwiches made by Steve Telg with Truth & Light Custom Cabinetry and the Opry’s famous homemade pies. Proceeds go to scholarships for local youth.

Milano Lodge No. 605 AF&AM will host its 13th annual fourman scramble tourney on Saturday, April 20 at the Cameron Country Club with tee time set for 9 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the group’s scholarship fund.

Entry is $40 per person and prizes will be awarded to first through third place teams. A limit of four mulligans are available for $5 each. Private carts are welcome. Carts will be available for $20 each and 10 carts are available.

Prizes will also be awarded for longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Hole sponsorships are still available.

Milano High School’s National Honor Society will host a blood drive on Monday, April 29 in the MHS fine arts hall.

Time is noon to 5 p.m. and donors can call the high school office (512-455-9333) to sign up or walk-ins are welcome.

Be sure to make plans to help support the second annual Knight Volleyball Scholarship Fund-raiser set for Saturday, May 4 at the Milano Elementary gym. Registration will start at 9 a.m. and games will begin at 10 a.m. Numbers will be drawn for teams that morning.

Registration forms may be submitted the day of the event but T-shirts will not be guaranteed, as supplies are limited. Cost to play is $20 per person. To just watch the tourney, admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. A concession stand will be available. For more information, contact Amanda Honeycutt at ahoneycutt@centurylink.net.

A fund-raiser golf tournament is planned for Saturday, May 18 to help fund a few new scholarships at Milano High School this spring. It will be a four-man scramble format and will be held at the Rockdale Country Club golf course.

Cost is $60 per player or $240 for a four person team and is limited to the first 18 teams. Two mulligans may be purchased per person for $5 each. Single players are welcome and will be paired with a team.

Prizes will be given out to the top three teams, as well as for longest drive, closest to pin and hole-in-one.

Participants will also be served breakfast tacos and a barbecue lunch. Entry deadline is May 10. Forms are available at www.milanoisd.net or at the high school principal’s office.

They are looking for people to play in the tournament and for sponsors.
