Project Grad BBQ chicken fund-raiser here Sunday

Rockdale Project Graduation will hold a BBQ chicken meal fund-raiser Sunday, April 21 at the Rockdale KC Hall, according to Debbie Brinkley, spokesperson. Serving will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., dine-in or carry-out.

Tickets are $8 per plate and are on sale now from any Rockdale Project Graduation Senior. FMI: 512-446- 5884.

Milam Aggie Muster Thursday at 44 Farms

CAMERON— Milam County A&M Club will hold its annual Aggie Muster at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at 44 Farms in Cameron. A dinner will be followed by the speaker and roll call for the absent. The meal will be provided by the Milam County Aggie Moms Club.

Speaker will be Bob McClaren from Cameron, co-chair of the Kyle Field Redevelopment Committee. All former students, parents of current students, and Class of 2017 newly-accepted Aggies are encouraged to attend and participate in one of Texas A&M’s most cherished traditions.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased from Muster Chairman Steven Wise, 254-697-7210, at Ideal Poultry in Cameron.

Milano Opry ahead Saturday at high school

MILANO—Want to see a great and entertaining show?

The monthly Milano Opry will be held Saturday, April 20 at Milano High School. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the show to start at 7.

Admission is $7 (children age 10 and under free). Attendees are urged to come early and eat hamburgers and BBQ sandwiches made by Steve Telg with Truth & Light Custom Cabinetry, plus homemade pies.

Guest performers will be Ron Brewer, recording artist and evangelist from Summerville, Georgia, and Erin Vestal of Bryan. House band members are Michael Herod, Billy Barnett, Ab Woods, Michael Wall, Ricky Blagg, Will Fountain and Lynn Martin.

“Come enjoy ‘A Big Show In a Small Town’ while helping us give back to the youth of Milano,” said Lynn Martin, publicist.

Boy Scouts sell tickets for quarter of steer

Milam County Boy Scouts are selling tickets for a quarter of a steer, processed and packaged, and a new 120-quart cooler, approximate value $750. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Drawing will be held Monday, April 29. “Thanks for supporting Troop 790,” said Scoutmaster Fred Keiffer.

Club sets bake sale Saturday in Thorndale

THORNDALE— Members of the Thorndale Town & Country Club will hold a bake sale on Saturday, April 20 in downtown Thorndale, according to Donna Harris, publicist. The sale will feature cakes, pies and cookies.

Genealogy society to meet Tuesday at CNB-Rockdale

Milam County Genealogical Society’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Citizens National Bank with Eugenia Newton to present the program. Members with surnames beginning Q-Z are responsible for refreshments. Paper goods, ice and drinks will be provided.—Linda Whorton, publicity

‘Southern Gospel’ night set May 10 at Milano

MILANO—Milano Senior Citizens will present “One Night of Southern Gospel” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10 at Milano High School. The night will include music from The Wallace Family, The Messenger Quartet reunion and a farewell concert for Masterpeace Quartet. FMI: 512-455-9232.

Masons golf tourney Saturday in Cameron

MILANO—Milano Masonic Lodge 605 AF&AM will host its 13th annual four-man scramble golf tourney on Saturday, April 20 at Cameron Country Club with tee time at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit the lodge scholarship fund, spokesperson Jesse Love said.

Entry is $40 per person and prizes will be awarded to first through third-place teams. Four mulligans are available at $5 each.

Prizes will also be awarded for longest drive and closest to the pin. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Hole sponsorships are still available for $150.

Sunshine quilters to meet April 25 at Meadowbrook

Sunshine ‘n Shadows Quilt Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25 in fellowship hall of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Members will work on individual projects. FMI: Eddie Davidson, 446-6316.

Grief support meetings

Grief support for teens

A grief support group for teens ages 12-18 meets each first Thursday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Rockdale High School library. The group is for those who are coping with the loss of a family member or friend.
