Mi lano High School’s National Honor Society National Junior Honor Society and student council will host a blood drive on Monday, April 29 in the MHS fine arts hall. Times are noon to 5 p.m. and donors can call the high school office (512-455-9333) to sign up or walk-ins are welcome.
This is a good way to help out those in West. Local blood banks are alway in need after a tragedy like that.
Team Tammy, a Relay For Life team from Milano, will hold four bake sales this week. The group will hold a bake sale from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Smokin’ Oak BBQ. Another bake sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Dollar General in Rockdale.
On Tuesday, April 30 the team will hold its final bake sale fund-raiser at the Milano Livestock Exchange. The sale will run from 7 a.m. until noon. To donate items to any of the bake sales, contact Tammy Storey, 936-245-4813, or Marie Bakken, 254-718-0133.
The Milano Junction Country Jamboree will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27 in the Milano Civic Center. Any and all musicians are invited to perform. Admission is free and concessions will be available.
Be sure to make plans to help support the second annual Knight Volleyball Scholarship Fund-raiser set for Saturday, May 4 at the Milano Elementary gym. Registration will start at 9 a.m. and games will begin at 10 a.m. Numbers will be drawn for teams that morning.
Registration forms may be submitted the day of the event but T- shirts will not be guaranteed, as supplies are limited. Cost to play is $20 per person. Milano Senior Citizens group will present “One Night of Southern Gospel” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10 at Milano High School. The night will include music from The Wallace Family, The Messenger Quartet reunion and a farewell concert for Masterpeace Quartet. For more information, call 512-455-9232.
A fund-raiser golf tournament is planned for Saturday, May 18 to help fund a few new scholarships at Milano High School this spring. It will be a four-man scramble format and will be held at the Rockdale Country Club golf course.
Cost is $60 per player or $240 for a four person team and is limited to the first 18 teams. Two mulligans may be purchased per person for $5 each. Single players are welcome and will be paired with a team.
Prizes will be given out to the top three teams, as well as for longest drive, closest to pin and hole-in-one.
Par t icipants wi ll a lso be served breakfast tacos and a barbecue lunch. Entry deadline is May 10. Forms are available at www.milanoisd.net or at the high school principal’s office.
Don’t forget that the Milano ISD PATCH Club is still collecting “Box Tops For Education.” There are containers at the school offices or just send them to school with your students. The box tops are sent in and the school earns free money. The club’s goal is 10,000 box tops this school year and they are less than 1,900 box tops away from it.
