Manslaughter charge filed in fatal North Milam crash

A 37-year-old Galveston man has been arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter in connection with a March 16 traffic accident north of Cameron that claimed the life of a 40-year-old Cameron resident.

El iceo Macias Ley va was charged in connection with the death of Efrain Carmona.

According to the DPS, Leyva was the driver of a pickup which collided with Carmona’s pickup on FM 485.

Leyva was also charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle with serious bodily injury.

Panfilo Maldonado, 36, a passenger in Leyva’s vehicle, was injured in the crash and was treated at Central Texas Hospital, Cameron.

Leyva was released after posting $50,000 bond.

LIVESTOCK THEFT—William J. Crenan, 55, of Burlington turned himself in last Wednesday and was charged with livestock theft and misappropriation of fiduciary property after an investigation by the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

According to the TSCRA, the charges involve allegations that 230 head of cattle owned by a feed company in the Texas Panhandle were not delivered.

Crennan was released after posting $30,000 bond.
