Crowd of well over 1,000 filed into KC Hall for barbecue sale, stayed to enjoy inside and outside events in annual event Sunday. The annual Mayfest celebration of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church lived up to its reputation as “Rockdale’s biggest party” Sunday at the KC Hall.

Perfect spring weather, and a variety of events inside and outside the hall, drew well over 1,000 participants, one of the largest turnouts in years.

Knight of Columbus council 7014 sold out of barbecue in the early afternoon and that included 10 extra briskets on hand just in case they were needed.

They were.

While the barbecue sale drew the largest turnout, there were also activities for young and old, including a silent auction, book sale, outdoor games, horse rides, a car show, book sale, religious and other crafts, cake and plant walks, country store, homemade kolaches, baked goods, face painting and much more.

And, of course, plenty of visiting plus enjoying a gorgeous spring afternoon.
