‘Summer Explosion’ bike/car show Saturday

Meadowbrook Baptist Church will hold its third annual “Summer Explosion” bike and auto show, also featuring music, games and food, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

St. John’s to honor seniors on May 26

St. John’s United Methodist Church will honor its graduating high school seniors on Sunday, May 26 at the 11 a.m. service, according to Rita Sims, pastor.

The seniors will be presented with Bibles and honored with a covered dish luncheon following the service in the Felllowship Hall.

Cowboy Church offers Kingdom Dog Ministries

Milam County Cowboy Church will present “God’s truths taught through a hunting dog” Saturday, June 1 in a program for men.

Kirk Glasby, publicist, said the event will include a steak dinner, music and a message from Hank Hough of Kingdom Dog Ministries. “Hank shares through his Labrador retriever hunting dogs,” Glasby said. Hough will also bring his message at the 10 a.m. Sunday service June 2.

Saturday’s schedule: a 3-D archery shoot, 3 p.m.; dinner, 5:30; and Hough’s program. Men wishing to attend Saturday should RSVP to 512-630-1607 or kglasby@gmailcom.

Thrift store volunteers announced for month

Rockdale Christian Services Heavenly Treasures thrift store serving the needy at 233 North Main Street is staffed by volunteers from RCS members churches. Church assignments through April are as follows:

May 16, Full Gospel; May 17, Meadowbrook Baptist; May 21, Tuesday Volunteers; May 22, Cowboy Church; May 23, Guadalupanas; May 24, Grace Lutheran; May 28, Tuesday Volunteers; May 29, St. Joseph’s Catholic; May 30, First Christian; May 31, Mt. Zion Baptist.—Judy Brown, volunteer chair

Next men’s breakfast Tuesday at St. John’s

An ecumenical monthly men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 until 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the site rotating between several local churches.

Next breakfast will be on the third Tuesday, May 21, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hillcrest at Summit streets.

“Purpose is Christian fellowship and all men of the Rockdale area are invited,” said Bill Avrett, spokesman.

“The date has changed to the third Tuesday for the month of May only,” Avrett said. “The breakfast will return to the second Tuesday in June and thereafter.”
