Rockdale’s Matinee Musical Club, a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, sponsored activities last week for its annual observance of National Music Week. No injuries and minor damages were reported in this two-vehicle collision Tuesday at the busy Cameron-Wilcox (US 79-FM 487) intersection. Police listed driver of the pickup, puling a trailer as Ray Lerche of Paige. Driver of the car was listed as John Gutierrez of South Houston. Police said the car and trailer sustained minor damages while the pickup was not damaged. Full Story
One treated in wreck
An 18-year-old Rockdale resident was treated at Richards Memorial Hospital Thursday following a one-vehicle crash on rain-slick US 79.
State Trooper Ernest Del- Bosque said Sara Johnson’s vehicle left the highway near FM 1786 (Alcoa turnoff) about 1:30 p.m. and rolled over.

79th Homecoming ahead on June 9th
Plans continue to move forward for the annual Rockdale Homecoming set for Sunday, June 9 at the Patterson Civic Center, according to an announcement by Gerri Offield, president of the Rockdale Homecoming Association.
This is the 79th year for the Rockdale Homecoming.
Events will begin at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and donuts for the early visitors. There will not be a speaker. Full Story

Former Rockdale resident killed in Pennsylvania shooting Monday
A former Rockdale resident died in a shooting Monday night near his Pennsylvania home.
Andrew T. Walko, 44, was pronounced dead at 11:46 p.m. in the University of Pittsburgh-Farrell Medical Center emergency room. Full Story
No road bond vote in 2013
CAMERON—Milam County commissioners made it official on Monday, there won’t be a bond election for a road improvement package this November.
The commissioners cour t unanimously voted not to hold the election this year, essentially endorsing the division they made two weeks ago in a workshop session. Full Story
