Rockdale season ends in quarterfinals
In the end, it came down to the basics of softball: hitting versus pitching.
On this particular occasion, pitching won out.
Pollock Central pitcher Katelyn Boles did not allow Rockdale to reach home plate even once and limited them to five hits over two games as the Lady Dogs swept the Lady Tigers out of the playoffs, 6-0, 2-0 in the Class 3A, Region III quarterfinal round. Full Story
Messer is more than deserving of accolades
Dominique Messer claims he’s not very good at baseball.
“I’ve swung at a few pitches,” he says through that 1000-kilowatt smile. “I can’t play baseball. I’m telling the truth.”
Excuse me, but I don’t believe him for a second.

Dominique doubles down
First Eagle to earn two gold medals
AUSTIN—In case you’re wondering how Superman replenishes his body between feats, he snacks on a turkey sandwich.
Superman in this particular case being played by Dominique Messer.
Tryptophan be damned, after winning one gold medal, Messer gulped down said sandwich during a short break and then stepped out and grabbed gold again. Full Story

Thorndale sprinter swoops in from fifth place
AUSTIN—Axtell’s Dallas Rushing set a new Class A record in the 800-meter run and he may have Thorndale’s Keon Mays to thank for it.
The speedy Bulldog senior pushed his way to a silver medal after coming around the final curve in fifth place and finished withaflurryandatimingof 1:57.91 for second place. Full Story
