RISD athletic physicals set for Thursday, May 23

The RISD athletic department has set athletic physicals for Thursday, May 23 at the Rockdale junior high gym from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cost is $10.

All incoming 7th, 9th, and 11th graders planning to participate in athletics are required to have a physical completed. Anyone else needing a physical for athletics can come at this time to have one done.

Physicians from Little River Healthcare will be performing the physicals.

A cardiologist will be doing echocardiograms to check for enlarged hearts. A consent form is required for this procedure and is included in the physical packet.

All proceeds are to be donated from Little River Healthcare to Rockdale athletics.

Third annual alumni golf tourney set July 27

The Rockdale Country Club Mens Golf Association is sponsoring the third annual Tiger Golf Team Alumni Tournament.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at 1 p.m. at the Rockdale Country Club and all proceeds will go to the RHS golf team.

There will be a team draw party on Friday, July 27 at 7 p.m.

The format is a four-person scramble and the cost is $65 per person and includes cart, green fees and lunch.

Entry deadline is July 19.

It is open to anyone who played on the RHS golf team, which dates back to 1965.

The first two tournaments have raised over $3,400 for the Tiger golf team.

RJH girls golf team captures first in district

The Rockdale Junior High girls golf team captured the 2013 district championship in Caldwell.

Individual scores were: Lyndy Laurrell 59, Jordan Jerman 59 Annie Hasselbach 61, Jaycee Henderson 67 and Jessie Sorenson 70, for a team total of 246.

The boys team placed third in Rockdale with a team score of 197. Walker Crane’s 47 led the way followed by Blake King’s 48, Gunner Miller’s 51, Braden Wallis’ 51 and Tyler Lehmkuhl’s 54.

Madisonville was first at 169.

2nd annual Race to the Oak Trees on May 25

MILANO—The second annual Race to the Oak Trees, sponsored by the Milano High School National Honor Society will be held Saturday, May 25.

Registration is $20 per runner and forms are available at the Milano High School office or by emailing NHS sponsor John Hughes at jhughes@milanoisd.net.

Registration forms may be submitted the day of the event, but T-shirt will not be guaranteed as supplies will be limited.

Grass Bash volleyball tourney served May 18

Cost: $50 entry fee per team

Milano scholarship golf tourney tees off May 18

MILANO—A fund-raiser golf tournament will be held Saturday, May 18 to help with scholarships for Milano ISD.

The event will follow a fourman scramble format, with an 8 a.m. shot gun start and be held at the Rockdale Country Club and include top prizes, Supt. Robert Westbrook announced.

Cost is $60 per player or $240 for a four person team and is limited to the first 18 teams. Two mulligans may be purchased per person for $5 each. Single players are welcome and will be paired with a team.

Prizes will be given out to the top three teams, as well as for longest drive, closest to pin and hole-in-one.

Par t icipants wi ll a lso be served breakfast tacos and a barbecue lunch. Entry deadline is May 10. Forms are available at www.milanoisd.net or at the high school principal’s office.

Hole sponsorships are also available for the event for $120. A silent auction is also planned.
