Truelson new pastor at Peace Lutheran

Pastor Ed Truelson and his wife Scarlett have accepted a call to serve the Peace Lutheran Church congregation in Rockdale. Peace is a charter member of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC).

“ We are very excited about coming to Rockdale, serving the Peace Lutheran congregation and being active in the community,” they said.

Military career— Pastor Truelson was born and raised on a large grain and livestock farm in Northwest Iowa. He is a graduate of Emmetsburg, Iowa High School, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, and is a member of the Cornell College Athletic Hall of Fame.

He also holds Master of Arts degrees from Webster University and UT- San Antonio in management and ESL).

He is a 22-year U.S. Air Force veteran, enlisted and commissioned, and retired with the rank of major. He served as a Chinese linguist and signals intelligence of f icer. He also worked in the electronic systems industry as a contractor to military.

Pastor Truelson received his theological training at Lutheran Seminary Program of the Southwest ( LSPS) in Austin He previously served St. John Lutheran Church in Dime Box.

35-year RN—Mrs. Truelson was born and raised in Fort Worth, graduated from Fort Worth Polytechnic High School, and earned her nursing degree in Montana.

She has more than 35 years exper ience as a Registered Nurse, and has served extensively as a church organist and pianist.

Mrs. Truelson has served on four medical mission trips, two in Vietnam, and one each in Costa Rica and Guatemala.

She serves as volunteer and spokesperson for the United Services Organization (USO).

Together they have 5 children, 13 grandchildren and are expecting their first great-grandchild in December.
