CAMERON—Graveside funeral services for Herbert Ray Butler, 80, of Mesquite, formerly of Cameron, were held Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Corinth Cemetery near Buckholts with Rev. Jim Lafferty of ficiating.
Mr. Butler died Monday, May 13, in Mesquite.
He was born in Cameron to Herbert A. and Louise Myers Butler.
Mr. Butler graduated from Lyford High School in 1951 and in 1952 he enlisted in the army serving in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Upon returning home, he attended Temple Junior College and then transferred to Sam Houston State Teachers College, receiving his bachelor’s degree in economics.
He married Lillie Ann Jekel on April 16, 1960, in Cameron and they moved to Dallas, where he began a career in distribution sales and inventory of HVC/AC supplies of Whirlpool and Fedders products. He retired in 1995.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Joe Bill Butler; and a nephew, Jimmy Ray McGregor.
Survivors are his wife, Lillie Ann Butler of Mesquite; a son, David Butler and Susan Tribble of Mesquite; three sisters, Lorraine McGregor and husband Charlie of Rockdale, Hazel Thompson and husband Don of Houston, Betty Sodek and husband Doug of Temple; two nephews, Charles McGregor and wife Viva Lynn of Rockdale, Michael Robison of Austin; and a brother-in-law, Dwight Jekel and wife Marily of Cameron; also, numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Corinth Cemetery in Buckholts.
