Brinkley Brinkley 5th Annual Luminant charity golf tournament

Hosted by the Sandow/Three Oaks Diversity Advisory Council, the 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefitting the United Way of South Milam County will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 at Star ranch Golf Club in Hutto.

Entry Fee is $100 per player, $400 for 4-player team and deadline to enter is Friday, Aug. 2.

Entry Fee Includes lunch, golf cart, range balls, and drink coupons. There is an 8 a.m. shotgun start. with late registration from 7 to 7:45 a.m.

Mulligans may be purchased either in advance or on the day of the tournament for $15 a player or two or $50 for entire team (8).

Prizes will be awarded to top finishers, long drive and closest to the pin.

Organizers said 19 teams took part in the fund-raiser. Townes also won the prize for closest to the pin and Clayton Bland won for longest drive. Brinkley selected for coaches all-star game

Rockdale pitcher Ethan Brinkley has been selected to play in the Central Texas High School Basebal l Coaches As sociat ion all-star game.

This marks the second straight year the senior has been selected for this all-star game, which wi ll be held June 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark in Waco.

Brinkley was 8- 5 this past season with a 2.43 earned run average and a first-team all-district pitcher.

Hadley Holder won 2nd place 7th grade girls singles. Defeated G. Hernandez (Granger) 6-1; def. Renee Reyes (Thorndale) 6-4; lost to M.Stewart 2-6.

RISD athletic physicals set for Thursday, May 23

The RISD athletic department has set athletic physicals for Thursday, May 23 at the Rockdale junior high gym from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cost is $10.

All incoming 7th, 9th, and 11th graders planning to participate in athletics are required to have a physical completed. Anyone else needing a physical for athletics can come at this time to have one done.

Physicians from Little River Healthcare will be performing the physicals.

A cardiologist will be doing echocardiograms to check for enlarged hearts. A consent form is required for this procedure and is included in the physical packet.

All proceeds are to be donated from Little River Healthcare to Rockdale athletics.

Third annual alumni golf tourney set July 27

The Rockdale Country Club Mens Golf Association is sponsoring the third annual Tiger Golf Team Alumni Tournament.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at 1 p.m. at the Rockdale Country Club and all proceeds will go to the RHS golf team.

There will be a team draw party on Friday, July 27 at 7 p.m.

The format is a four-person scramble and the cost is $65 per person and includes cart, green fees and lunch.

Entry deadline is July 19.

It is open to anyone who played on the RHS golf team, which dates back to 1965.

The first two tournaments have raised over $3,400 for the Tiger golf team.

There will be a limited number of spots available to any golfer who would like to be a friend or supporter of the school golf program.

You need not be a member of any Rockdale school golf team for these spots.

2nd annual Race to the Oak Trees on May 25

MILANO—The second annual Race to the Oak Trees, sponsored by the Milano High School National Honor Society will be held Saturday, May 25.

Registration is $20 per runner and forms are available at the Milano High School office or by emailing NHS sponsor John Hughes at jhughes@milanoisd.net.

Registration forms may be submitted the day of the event, but T-shirt will not be guaranteed as supplies will be limited.

Martinez will play in AABCA all-star game

TAYLOR—Taylor High School senior Brandon Martinez Taylor was selected to play in the 2013 AABCA All-Star game at the Dell Diamond.

The game will be played on Sunday, June 9 at 6p.m.

Mar t inez is the grandson of Ronnie and Dora Mancillas of Rockdale. His parents are Ramon and Doreen Martinez of Taylor.
