Dr. Kirk C. Edney, assistant professor in the Texas A& M University Depar tment of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications, will be the featured speaker Fr iday when the 82- candidate Rockdale High School Class of 2013 graduates at Tiger Field.
Ceremonies will start at 7:30 p.m. In the event of bad weather, graduation will be moved indoors to the high school gym, according to Joey Geletka, RHS principal.
Addresses by valedictorian Caroline Wilde and salutatorian Breann Breithaupt will also be part of the program.
The Rockdale High School Big Blue Band, directed by Adrian Acevedo, will provide the traditional music.
Senior class officers will also participate in the program.
SPEAKER—Dr. Edney has a 30-year career in education and for the past three years has provided day-to-day leadership and operations management to the A&M agricultural leadership department (ALEC).
For 12 years prior to attaining that position he was a curriculum specialist with ALEC, performing a variety of duties including lead investigator for a grant program, responding to teacher inquiries and was secretary of the Texas Agricultural Mechanics Committee.
He was previously employed with the Texas Education Agency, where he was director of Agricultural Science and Technology, a department where he was previously an educational specialist for nine years.
Dr. Edney started his career in education as an agricultural science teacher and department head at Arlington High School and Azle High School.
