Lunsford

Services for Shirley Jean Lunsford, 81, were held Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Robert Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Homer Cemetery near Milano.

Mrs. Lunsford died Friday, May 24, at St. Joseph Hospice in Bryan.

She was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Burleson County to Mack Cam and Allene (Mauldin) Segler.

Mrs. Lunsford was raised in Galveston and graduated from Ball High School.

She worked for Texas Instruments in Houston and later became a rancher.

Mrs. Lunsford was an outdoor person and enjoyed her ranch, gardening, flowers, quilting, fishing, square dancing and her dog Tiffany.

She was raised in the Baptist Church and was a charter member of Garden Road Baptist Church in Pearland.

She married Richard Guy Lunsford Jr. on March 18, 1949, in Galveston.

Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Guy Lunsford, on Sept. 27, 2005; and two sisters, Joyce Lange and Louise Segler.

Survivors are a son, Richard Lunsford and wife Cindy of Manuel; and three daughters, Wanda Joyce Steiger and husband Bob of Pearland, Rebecca Lynn Youngman of Houston, Phyllis Renee Johnson and husband Robert of Rockdale; also, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Doug Talbott, Paul Talbott, Brandon Webb, Nicholas Webb, Garrett Steiger, Blake Kimball, Brian Sparks, Jason Lunsford and Rick Lunsford IV.
