SHERIFF’S REPORT

Cameron men charged with child sex abuse

Two Cameron men have been charged in connection with unrelated sex abuse cases, both involving 12-year-old girls, according to Cameron Police Chief Randy Dixon.

Fernando Vargas Jr., 34, was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and continual sexual abuse of a child. He remains in the county jail in lieu of one million dollars bond.

Antonio Dominguez, 29, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and continual sexual abuse of a child. He remains in custody in lieu of $400,000 bond.

Dixon said the charges were filed after an investigation by police, Milam County Child Protective Services and the Bell County Children’s Advocacy Center.

Dixon said while the cases were not related, information obtained during the investigation of one case brought the other one to light.

He said the investigation began after police received a call from a concerned parent.
