RISD bands advanced in ATSSB series

Both the Rockdale Junior High Symphonic Band and the Rockdale High School Big Blue Band recently submitted recordings of the UIL selections for competition to the Assocation of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) Outstanding Performance Series and have advanced to the next level of competition, according to RISD director of bands Adrian A. Acevedo.

The RJH Symphonic Band placed first with all three of its selections and have advanced to the next level. Top honors for RJH performances were for their march (Two Marches for America), concert 1 (Korean Hill Song) and concert 2 pieces (Serengeti Dreams).

In the 3A high school march division, the RHS band placed second behind Burnet, advancing to the next level. They were just in front of third place Giddings. Only the top three selections advance. Their march piece was “Miss Liberty March.”

The Big Blue Band was sixth with their selection “In Heaven’s Air) and 10th with “Blue Ridge Saga.”
