Reaves to speak Sunday at Mt. Zion homecoming
Mount Zion Baptist Church, 3739 FM 1712 (5 miles north of Rockdale), will hold its annual homecoming celebration on Sunday, June 9, Bro. Luther Shelander, pastor, announced.
“Bible study will start at 9:45 a.m. and worship service will begin at 11 a.m. The public is welcome,” he said.
Guest speaker will be Bro. David Reaves, minister of education and youth at First Baptist Church in Kerens. He is the son of Lloyd and Lawayne Reaves of Rockdale.
Following morning worship will be a covered dish lunch. “We celebrate what God has done, what He continues to do, and what He has promised to do so come here his Word preached and enjoy the fellowship of God’s people,” Bro. Shelander said.
Mt. Zion VBS—Mount Zion Baptist will hold Vacation Bible School June 17-21 from 8:30 until 11:30 a.m. Classes are available for 4 years of age up to youth (high school). Theme for twill be “Colossal Coaster World.” Main Bible verse will be 2 Timothy 1:17, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline.”
“Each day we will examine what the scripture teaches and make application into our lives,” Bro. Shelander said. Crafts, games and refreshments are included.

Murray Street sets ‘Circus of Faith’ VBS
Murray Street Church of Christ has set Vacation Bible School for 9 a.m. to noon Friday through Sunday, June 21-23.
Theme is “Learnem & Dailey’s 5-Ring Circus of Faith” and the VBS is open to children from age four to those entering the fifth grade in the fall. Refreshments will be provided at the end of each session.
A fellowship meal is set for June 23 following services for all family members.

First Baptist VBS set here for June 23-27
First Baptist Church in Rockdale will hold Vacation Bible School from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, June 23-27, according to Rev. Jack Chelf, pastor.
Theme will be “Colossal Coaster World—Facing Fear, Trusting God.” The VBS is open to all children Pre-K through fifth grade age.

San Gabriel Baptist event set Saturday
SAN GABRIEL—A Christian family event and fellowship is set for Saturday, June 8 at San Gabriel Christian Church, according to church clerk Eunice Stigall.
Festivities will begin at 7 p.m. with games and a light supper followed by the movie “Thou Shalt Laugh.” Everyone is invited, Stigall said.
The movie is outdoors, bring lawn chairs or quilts. Chairs will also be available. Event is free.
The church is located at 263 County Road 421A in San Gabriel six miles north of Thorndale just off FM 486 North. Tim Cheatham is pastor.

Allen AME to host ‘Brothers on the Move’
Allen AME Church, 216 East Third Street, will host a program “Brothers on the Move—100 Men in Green Ties,” from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, June 8, according to Rev. Keith Gavin, pastor, and Bro. James Barnes, event chairperson.
Registration will start at 9:30 a.m. and cost is $10 per person. Speaker will be Rev. Greg Spears, pastor of Milam County Cowboy Church.
The public is invited and a meal will be served in fellowship hall.
Next men’s breakfast at Apostolic Faith Church
An ecumenical monthly men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 until 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the site rotating between several local churches.
Next breakfast will be on the Tuesday, June 11, at Apostolic Faith Church, 400 West Davilla.
“Purpose is Christian fellowship and all men of the Rockdale area are invited,” said Bill Avrett, spokesman.

St. Paul to host S&W Bloodmobile June 16
THORNDALE—The Scott & White Bloodmobile will be on the campus of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School on Sunday, June 16 from 8 a.m. until noon. To preregister, call Teresa Ging, 512-924-0151. Walk-ins are welcome.
Donors will receive a donor T-shirt, a coupon for a free buffet and drink from Gatti’s Pizza, a chance to win 4 tickets to a Round Rock Express baseball game, and a chance to win a donor quilt at the end of the year.
Four St. Paul blood drives remain in 2013—June 16, Aug. 11, Oct. 6 and Dec 1.
This month’s drive is entitled “Boots & Badges” and the blood center is encouraging donors to give back to the public service departments by donating a stuffed animal to give to the children who endure a tragic event or fire. Donors are asked to bring a stuffed animal which will be given to a child for comfort.
