Flora Mae “Nickie” Dymke Owens, 95, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

Visitation will be held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6. Interment and commitment services will follow at 1 p.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Owens was born in Milam County on Oct. 6, 1917, to Cornelia Ann and Frank Dymke.

She attended and graduated from Rockdale High School in 1936.

She married Herman Adolf Owens in 1938.

After about 10 years of moving around and doing farming and ranching, they settled in Channelview, where they lived for half of their 50-years of married life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Adolph; a son Edward Earl; three sisters, Henrietta Muska, Willie Lee Jefferies and Evelyn Cornelia (Sister) Smith; and four brothers, Homer Dymke, Vernon Dymke, Ronald Dymke and Coleman Frank Dymke.

Survivors are a daughter, Mary Ellen Owens of Willis; a brother- and sister-in-law W.E. and Lena Owens of Willis; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Elaine Owens Walker; also, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-greatnieces and nephews.
