Tovar

Funeral services for Ray Tovar, 70, were held Monday, June 3, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mr. Tovar died Friday, May 31, in Scott & White Hospital in Temple after a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 2, 1943, in Pharr to Albert and Emilia (Salinas) Tovar.

Mr. Tovar lived most of his life in Rockdale.

He worked as a farmer and was a self-employed carpenter.

He married Ruth Alston on March 5, 1994, in Rockdale.

Mr. Tovar was preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Lawrence on April 1, 1993, and Julian on June 30, 1993.

Survivors are his wife, Ruth Tovar of Rockdale; three sons, Joe Tovar and wife Kelly, Bob Tovar and Art Tovar, all of Rockdale; a stepson, David Booker and wife Stephanie of Rockdale; two stepdaughters, Brandi Booker and Larrianne Johnson, both of Pflugerville; two brothers, Albert Tovar of Rockdale, Gerardo Tovar of Kerman, California; a sister, Theresa Tovar of Rockdale; and 12 grandchildren, Stevie Tovar, Tucker Tovar, Taylor Tovar, B.J. Morgan, Natalie Orr, Julienanne Booker, Micah Booker, Ethan Booker, Emma Booker, Colin Johnson, Zachary Johnson and Lakin Cass.

Pal lbearers were Tucker Tovar, Johnny Hernandez, Paul Ford, Randy Patranella, Brady Nelson Jr. and William Zientek.

Honorary pal lbearer was Clifford Simms.
