Music club member incoming state president

Matinee Musical Club ended the club year with a salad dinner at the home of Mona Butala with Donnie Rinn as co-hostess.

The business meeting was led by President Lisa Loewe. Gloria Thrasher and Annette Griesbach reported on the state convention they attended in Tyler where Gloria was installed as the incoming state president. Gloria also talked about the State Music Festival in San Marcos where 1,800 students from throughout the state competed. Gloria was a TFMC representative and presented plaques to the younger performers.

Pat Owen presented the evening’s program based on this year’s theme, “Color the World with Music.” Each member chose a song to perform that included a color in the title or lyrics. Choices were varied and included folk, classic, country and religious. Some members told a story about their selection and one sang an original piece.

The meeting closed with the singing of the NFMC benediction, accompanied by Dixie Whitmore. Matinee is a member of the Texas and National Federation of Music Clubs.—Pat Owen, reporter
