Library offers ‘Conversations with Cliff’ here Thursday

Cliff Simms Cliff Simms Rockdale’s city library will offer “Conversations With Cliff” at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday, June 13, and again Thursday, June 20 and listeners and participants are in for a treat.

Cliff Simms, a lifelong resident and a “walking encyclopedia” of knowledge about all things Rockdale, will be the speaker in an informal setting.

Among his topics, according to event organizer Leanna Applegate, may be (but not limited to):

• Old Rockdale landmark homes and buildings.

• Local “characters” who were prominent in the books of author George Sessions Perry.

• Simms’ experiences working as the property inventory administrator for the H.H. Coffield Enterprises.

• Simms’ experiences as an expert on thoroughbred racehorse bloodlines (to the extent that he served as a buyer for some top Kentucky horse farms).

“Cliff’s keen mind holds a treasure of knowledge about ‘old’ Rockdale and its families,” Applegate said.

The event is free.—Bill Cooke
