Holton

Services for Johnnie M. Holton, 87, of Lexington were held Saturday, June 8, 2013, in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home Chapel in Rockdale. Burial followed in Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood. Dr. Gregory Nichols officiated.

Mrs. Holton died Wednesday, June 5, in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

She was born April 2, 1926, in the Day community of Anderson County, to Grady Patrick and Allie Mae (Parker) Bridges.

She married Virgil R. Holton in Wharton on Oct. 14, 1958.

Mrs. Holton worked as a nurse’s aide in nursing homes in Sweeny and Bay City, was a checker for several businesses and was a homemaker.

She was a Lexington resident since 1989, moving there from Sweeny.

Mrs. Holton was a member of the Church of Christ.

She enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and sewing.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ben, Allie and Guy Bridges; two sisters, Cleola Searcy and Bernice Deal; and two granddaughters, Samantha DeLange and Olivia Gonzalez.

Survivors are her husband, Virgil R. Holton of Lexington; a son, Kenneth Wayne Brown of Lake Jackson; and a daughter, Sheila Jean Johnson and husband Clyde of Lexington; also, six grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Johnny West, Brandon Johnson, Kyler DeLange, Steve White, James Apple, Brad Brown and Chris Brown.
