Melton

Funeral services for Mary Lois Melton, 78, of Griffin Chapel will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Goodwill Baptist Church in Milano. Burial will follow in Griffin Chapel Cemetery in the Griffin Chapel community. Rev. L.C. Jones will officiate.

Visitation is set for 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Melton died Friday, June 7, at Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale.

She was born Aug. 27, 1934 in Huntsville to Edmond and Jessie York (Williams) Watkins.

She married Albert T. Melton Sr., in Caldwell in June 1971.

Mrs. Melton had lived in the Griffin Chapel community for the past 41 years.

She was a homemaker and a member of Griffin Chapel Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert T. Melton Sr., on Jan. 9, 2011; three children and a grandson.

Survivors are her children, George Watkins and wife Anne of Huntsville, Rosie Watkins of Rockdale, Ezra McGowan, Bobby McGowan and wife Brenda, Katherine Melton and husband Deedrene, all of Cameron, Carla Melton, Douglas Melton and wife Seleta, all of Milano; and three sisters, Jessie Hightower and Frankie Hightower, both of Huntsville, Sewilla Williams of California; also, 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Wilcox, Sam Brooks, Robert Clayton, C.J. Washington, Rodshea Jones and Marsette Kelley.
