Seminary president will speak Sunday at Landmark

Dr. H.H. Strickland, president of the West Florida Baptist Institute and Seminary, will be the guest speaker this Sunday, June 23 at the Landmark Baptist Church in Rockdale. Dr. Strickland will preach in both the morning worship service at 10 a.m. and the afternoon worship at 1:30 p.m.

Dr. Strickland will soon celebrate 53 years in the ministry. He received his education in Bible languages and theology at Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock, Arkansas, and has served 8 churches as pastor. He has been the president of the West Florida Baptist Institute and Seminary for 26 years and has authored 7 books, 4 of which are seminary textbooks.

“All are invited to hear this exciting and learned speaker,” said Rev. Dr. David Gonnella, Landmark pastor. The church is located on South Wilcox Street, next to Manor Oaks Nursing Home.

Murray Street sets ‘Circus of Faith’ VBS

Murray Street Church of Christ has set Vacation Bible School for 9 a.m. to noon Friday through Sunday, June 21-23.

Theme is “ Learnem & Dailey’s 5-Ring Circus of Faith” and the VBS is open to children from age 4 to those entering the fifth grade in the fall. Refreshments will be provided at the end of each session.

A fellowship meal is set for June 23 following services for all family members.

First Baptist VBS set here for June 23-27

First Baptist Church in Rockdale will hold Vacation Bible School from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, June 23-27, according to Rev. Jack Chelf, pastor.

Theme will be “Colossal Coaster World— Facing Fear, Trusting God.” The VBS is open to all children Pre-K through fifth grade age.

Rockdale Christian Services Heavenly Treasures thrift store serving the needy at 233 North Main Street is staffed by volunteers from RCS members churches. Church assignments through June are as follows:

Next men’s breakfast at First Presbyterian For Your Information

An ecumenical monthly men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 until 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the site rotating between several local churches.

Next breakfast will be on the Tuesday, July 9, at First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa Avenue.

“Purpose is Christian fellowship and all men of the Rockdale area are invited,” said Bill Avrett, spokesman.
