School budget has tax hike
Board okays clinic on RISD campus with August start eyed
Rockdale ISD trustees have okayed a “ hopefully tentative” budget for 2013-2014 that’s based on a 4-cent tax increase.
Board members, meeting in regular session Monday in the Central Administration Building, also approved a request by Little River Healthcare to place a clinic in an RISD campus as soon as August. Full Story

Three men who have apparently been on a crime spree covering several counties in recent weeks may have come to Rockdale last Wednesday night.
The Rockdale Country Club safe was taken during a burglary, a crime strikingly reminiscent of several recent incidents including one only two days previously at the Thorndale Meat Market. Full Story
New superintendent to be hired Monday
Vicki Bridges will be hired as the Rockdale ISD’s new superintendent in a called board meeting at 12-noon Monday in the Central Administration Office.
Wait, wasn’t she hired June 11? No, but that was actually the day with all the drama. Bridges was named the “lone finalist” for the position vacated by Dr. Howell Wright on that day. Full Story
Two fugitives arrested
Two fugitives whose mug shots ran on the front page of The Rockdale Reporter last week have been arrested.
Levi Courtney Ashworth, 27, of Buckholts, turned himself in Thursday at the Milam County Sheriff’s Department.
Ashworth was charged with forgery of a national government instrument (money) and criminal trespass. Full Story
