JUNETEENTH IN ROCKDALE

Rockdale residents observed Juneteenth Saturday afternoon and evening with an outdoor party at Sumuel Park. Top photo, the local group Tru Nation kept things lively. Middle, there were plenty of activities for children of all ages. Below, the Juneteenth Celebration Committee included (L-R) Terrilynn Williams, Leroy Freeman, Henry Miller, Kendra Darnell, Larry Wilcox, Lisa Benford, Stephanie Washington, Sheniqua Russell and Linda Ford, who also provided music. The celebration was sponsored by The Original Twelve Social and Civic Club, New Hope Baptist Church, Springfield Baptist Church, Allen AME Church, Pecan Street Baptist Church, Rising Star Baptist Church, Odis Mack Allstate Ins. Co. of Houston, Miles Styles Barber Shop, Lisa’s HOPE Chest of Austin and in memory of Almond L. and Zelma Moultrie Sr.
