RJH advances two recordings to state in ATSSB Performance Series

The Association of Texas Small School Band’s (ATSSB) Area Outstanding Performance Series hearings took place June 18 at Orange Grove High School and two selections from a Rockdale band have advanced to state.

“Once again our bands did a great job and are in the company of great bands,” RISD director of bands Adrian Acevedo said.

Rockdale Junior High Symphonic Band’s march “ Two Marches for America” was second place and has advanced to state. They finished behind Clifton Middle School, who also advanced.

The RJH’s concer t piece “Serengeti Dreams” won first in that division and also advances to state. Others in that division advancing to the next level were Santo Middle School and Clifton Middle School.

BIG BLUE BAND—The RHS Big Blue Band march “Miss Liberty March” was fifth in the Class 3A march division.

Advancing schools were Kennedale High School and China Spring High School.

Third place went to Burnet High School and fourth to College Station High School.
