Bland

Funeral services for Dennis Dale Bland, 64, were held Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home Chapel in Rockdale with Pastor Barry Methvin officiating.

Services in Arkansas were conducted on Monday, June 24th, at Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle, Arkansas.

Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery in Russellville, Arkansas.

Mr. Bland d ied Monday, June 17, at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

He was born March 11, 1949, in Bentonville, Arkansas to Dorman Arthur and Ruth Vaughan Bland.

Mr. Bland graduated from Russellville High School in 1967 and Arkansas Polytechnic College in 1971.

He was a retired shift foreman with Texas Utilities/Luminant Energy, retiring in 2005 after 27 years of service.

Mr. Bland was an collector of baseball memorabilia and Spanish colonial artifacts. He also enjoyed fishing in Canada and model trains. He was an outdoorsman, an Arkansas Razorback and Texas Longhorn fan.

Mr. Bland was preceded in death by his father Dorman Bland and a brother, Michael Bland.

Survivors include his spouse, Dora DeLeon Casas of Rockdale; three children, Pedro Casas and wife Sharon of Port Lavaca, Jessie Casas and wife Amy of Bryan, Rita Casas and fiancé Chris Wallace of Rockdale; his mother, Ruth Bland of Dardanelle, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Christopher Casas and Makayla Mitchell of Rockdale, McKade and McKason Casas of Bryan, Ethan and Madilynn Casas of Port Lavaca; two sisters, Teresa Bland, Lea Ann Woods and husband Jerry Don, all of Dardanelle, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Bland of Jay, New York; three nieces, Nikki Sandlin and husband John and their children Jake and Rhett of London, Arkansas, Natalie Tarte and husband Christopher and their children Hattie, Sam and Gracie of San Antonio, Sarah Heil and husband Scott and their son Logan of Gloucester, Massachusetts; and a nephew, Matthew Bland of Arlington, Virginia.
