TACC to start up lending library

The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce held their monthly meeting on May 28, at the TACC Building in downtown Thorndale. The May 22 meeting minutes were accepted as presented. The financial report was given by treasurer Peggy Weise and included a final report on the Car Show and the Louis Run.

Also included was a tentative report on the Miss Thorndale Revue finances. Scholarship funds were transferred to the scholarship account.

Committee reports were heard including a new business in Thorndale, Streamline Commercial Development. Susan Drabek gave a report on the recent Thorndale City Council meeting. In old business, 2013 committee chairs were elected and a report on the Scholarship Raffle Quilt was given. Linda Kennedy was the lucky winner of the “All Around the Posies” quilt.

In addition, the Car Show and Louis Run logistics were reviewed as well as the logistics for the Miss Thorndale Revue. Funds were allocated for refurbishing the TACC float for the upcoming parades.

In new business, the Thorndale Christmas Parade was discussed and tabled. The upcoming carnival on Oct. 14 was also discussed. Mark your calendars for this exciting event. More details will be published at a later date.

In addition, the TACC will begin work on a Lending Library to be housed in the TACC building. It will be started with donated books and shelves and the community is asked to contact Darleen Tucker at 512-898- 2727 for more information. The Library is planned to be open one to two days per week and should be up and running by August. Watch for more details on this new venture.

The next meeting of the TACC Board of Directors will at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 and visitors are always welcome.
