New Jerusalem Interdenominational Church and the Institute for Teaching God’s Word Alumni will be honoring Dr. Dennis L. and Clara Brooks for 35 years of ministry and also their 50th wedding anniversary.
A banquet will be held in their honor at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 5.
Sunday services on July 7 will start at 10:30 a.m. Guest speakers will be Dr. Johnny Cox and Dr. Jerome Cox from Shreveport, Louisiana, and Dr. Fagatua Tili from Oceanside, California.
The public is invited.
Rising Star Baptist to hold events on July 13 and 14
Rising Star Baptist Church has announced activities for July, according to Jo Ann Bradford, spokesperson.
On Saturday, July 13, there will be a “Getting to Know You” Ladies Salad Dinner at 3 p.m. in the Church Fellowship Hall. All ladies and teen girls are invited to attend.
“Bringing a covered dish is not a requirement, but if you would like to bring your favorite salad, please contact Linda Henderson at 512-430-2322,” Bradford said. This ladies fellowship is sponsored by Rising Star Women Activities.
There will be a RSBC Youth Recognition Program during the 11 a.m. morning worship on Sunday, July 14. Youth Recognition Dinner will be served immediately after morning worship. This program is in observance of July’s “Make a Difference to Children Month.” All Youth are invited to attend. Sponsored by RSBC Youth Department.

St. John’s UMC welcomes new Pastor Sunday
St. John’s United Methodist Church will welcome Rev. Adam Straznicky, his wife Sara and newborn daughter, Avery Rose this Sunday.
St. John’s would like to invite everyone in Rockdale and surrounding areas to attend and welcome the new family.
U.M. Army is coming to Rockdale July 7-13. Youth and adult volunteers from churches in the Galveston Bay area will be serving the needy of Rockdale.
U.M. Army is an opportunity for youth, college students and adults to experience Christian growth through mission, worship and fellowship. Participants combine their strengths to meet home repair and maintenance needs of those unable to help themselves.
Meadowbrook co-sponsor of annual Shoe Drive
Meadowbrook Baptist Church, along with the Rockdale Rotary Club and the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, are sponsoring the Annual Shoe Drive for needy children, according to Denice Doss, spokesperson.
Signup will continue through July with the giveaway being held on Tuesday, August 6. To sign up for shoes call Meadowbrook Baptist Church at 512-446-3367 or Rockdale Chamber of Commerce at 512-446-2030.
To donate for the drive call either of the two numbers above. Make your checks out to Meadowbrook Baptist Church. 100% of the donations will be used for the shoes.
This is the third year for the giveaway. Last year over 100 children were served with the shoe giveaway, Doss said.
St. John’s and Peace Lutheran to hold VBS
St. John’s UMC and Peace Lutheran Church are co-hosting Vacation Bible School again this year called “Everywhere Fun Fair: Where God’s World Comes Together.”
VBS will be held August 5-7, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. and is open to all children, ages 3 years through 5th grade. All children in the area are invited to attend. MSCOC announces arrival of new Pastor
Murray Street Church of Christ announces the arrival of their new preacher on Sunday, July 14, according to Ricky Cox, spokesperson. Brother Jason Hollinger and his family are coming from Coleman.
Bro. Hollinger’s sermons can be heard during a video sermon at www.murraystreetcoc.org.
The Murray Street youth are attending Camp Bandina near Bandera this week.
Murray Street Church of Christ invites the community to visit during Sunday morning bible classes for all ages at 9:30 a.m., worship service at 10:30 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m.
During the summer, there is also a Wednesday night fellowship, devotional and meal.
Next men’s breakfast at First Presbyterian
An ecumenical monthly men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 until 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the site rotating between several local churches.
Next breakfast will be on Tuesday, July 9, at First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa Avenue.
“Purpose is Christian fellowship and all men of the Rockdale area are invited,” said Bill Avrett, spokesman.
Thrift store volunteers announced for month
Rockdale Christian Services Heavenly Treasures thrift store serving the needy at 233 North Main Street is staffed by volunteers from RCS members churches. Church assignments through June are as follows:
