QUICK LOOK

‘Bring your own’ fireworks at Apache Pass

There’s no professional fireworks display this July Fourth in Milam County but a Rockdale-area venue is offering a “bring your own” chance on Thursday.

Apache Pass, seven miles northwest of Rockdale on FM 908, will open at 3 p.m. for a day on the San Gabriel River and those who bring fireworks may shoot them for about two hours, starting at 9 p.m.

There’s no admission but those attending may make donations of $1 per person to Rockdale’s MARC Center, Lanny Worley, Apache Pass general manager, said.

It’s the second year Apache Pass has been open for July Fourth.

Holiday

Thursday is July Fourth and many businesses will be closed, including The Reporter.

Financial institutions, City Hall and the library and the post office will close but garbage pickup continues on the regular schedule.
