Tourism plan goes to council
The City of Rockdale’s Tourism Committee is sending a tourism marketing plan and calendar to the city council for action.
That committee met Monday afternoon at City Hall and okayed the plan, which will be placed on the council agenda for the regular monthly session this Monday.
The council will gather at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, at City Hall.
Tourism committee members have been working with Orasi Consulting on a plan to “market” Rockdale which includes a number of events.
The calendar includes activities over the next 6 to 18 months.
The plan also includes website development and social media promotion.
Also on Monday, the committee discussed local tourism activities, including a recent Bikers Against Child Abuse camp.
No action was taken on a proposed Milam County Festival and Barbecue Cookoff in lieu of the committee’s receiving an application from event organizers requesting funding from hotel occupancy tax funds.
