Kayleigh Montelongo was a standout on both sides of the line, with a 20-7 pitching mark, while hitting .448 with 24 runs batted in.

Reporter/Cliff Dungan Kayleigh Montelongo became the first Rockdale pitcher to be recognized on an All- State team when she was chosen for the Texas Sports Writers Association squad.

The graduated senior was an honorable mention selection after becoming the Lady Tigers’ all-time winningest pitcher.

From 2010 thru 2013, Montelongo was 51-28, surpassing Sammie Meyer’s mark of 43 wins.

Montelongo was 20-7 last season in leading 21-7 Rockdale to its first district championship since 2007.

The right hander struck out 145 batters and fashioned a 1.59 earned run average.

She also led the Lady Tigers at the plate, hitting .448 with 24 runs batted in.
