Ten grass fire calls before Monday burn ban

The Milam County Sheriff’s Department had a busy week following area volunteer fire departments to grass fires before commissioners enacted a rural burn ban on Monday.

Counting fires dispatched both from the Cameron and from the Rockdale Police Department, there were 10 grass fires dispatched countywide.

Those included fires in the Rockdale, Cameron, Baileyville, Branchville and Buckholts areas.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
