Some enchanted evenings ahead for MCT
“We’ve been rehearsing at the Williams Event Center but just moved the company to the Cameron ISD Performing Arts Center,” said director Betsi Chamlee.
This is the second time MCT has performed “South Pacific.” Twenty years ago, it was the first full-scale musical the community theater group produced, and Chamlee was the director.
“I’m delighted to have been invited back. This is one of my favorite shows,” she said. “It’s got great music, a lot of songs everyone will recognize like ‘Nothing Like a Dame,’ ‘Some Enchanted Evening,’ and ‘I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair.’”
Chamlee cast Shelby Thomason to play the part of Nellie Forbush and Lucas Howland as Emile De Becque.
Pamela Neely will play Bloody Mary, Richard Stone as Luther Billis and Jonathon Deal will play Joseph Cable.
Other members of the company includes Buzz Rahm as Capt. George Brackett, Austin Mueck as Cmdr. William Harbison, Buddy Shuffield as Stewpot and Dwight Jekel as the Professor.
Cast as Sailors and Marines are Lane Schweitzer, Dillon Betros, Patrick Lloyd, Alex Ferguson, Maurice Goza, Kevin Osorio, KC Ferguson and Jack Terhune.
The nurses are Tia Rae Stone, Cheyenne Lee, Melanie Reed, Rebekah Ferguson, Elisabeth Thompson and Monica Schiller. Olivia Husher, Will Wallace, Mona Butala and Amanda Tyson round out the cast.
Joanna Langthorn is the show’s choreographer and Nestor Rios is the musical director.
