Funnel cloud a ‘no show’ Monday evening

SHERIFF’S REPORT

For a few minutes Monday evening Rockdale-area emergency crews were alerted to the possibility of a tornado but it all blew over.

At 8:09 p.m. a member of the public reported a funnel cloud viewed to the northwest from US 79 east of town.

Firefighters responded but did not observe any tornadic activity as a quick moving storm system passed the area south to north.

The call was cleared at 8:16 and firefighters stood down.
